It’s been a while since I ran a contest on deviantART, so let’s do one now! This time, instead of a topic, I’m going to give you a style to work with. It’s a pretty open ended style, though, one that will allow for all sorts of ideas:

COMIC BOOKS!

Not the whole books, just a single page.

What if Ben and Winslow were part of a superhero team? What if Vampiric Minority were a horror comic? What if Attention Whore starred in her own manga? These are some of the potential scenarios you might think up for this contest. Take any of my characters and create a comic book page in any style, genre, and medium of your choice!

The rules are as follows:

1- Choose from any of my characters (Ben & Winslow [link] , the Vampiric Minority crew [link] , Attention Whore [link] , or any combination thereof) and create a page-length comic as if it were taken out of a comic book. Creativity is encouraged! Please remember the appropriate copyright info.

2- The page can be of any medium/media you choose, including traditional, digital, and photographic forms. As long as the finished product looks somewhat like a comic book page, any medium will work.

3- You may choose any genre you like. This includes parodying existing comic books and yes, even manga. Keep in mind that while my comics tend to my humorous, plenty of comic books aren’t, so while humor is always appreciated, it isn’t required for this contest. The idea is to see my characters in a form we don’t ordinarily see them in.

4- You may enter as many pages as you like, but only ONE counts toward the final judging (your choice, of course).

5- Content is at the discretion of each entrant, but please keep in mind deviantART’s submission policy. If it’s not suitable for deviantART, it’s not suitable for this contest.

6- To give you all enough time to work on your entries, the contest begins TODAY and ends January 7th. That’s two months! Once you’re done, upload your entry to your deviantART gallery and send me a note with the link. I’ll add every entry to my favorites and include them in a regularly updated contest journal.

7- All deviantART members, regardless of experience or ability, is encouraged to participate. Entries will be judged solely on creativity and use of the comic book page format.

8- Prizes are a little sweeter this time around. First prize gets not only a three-character drawing, but a three-month deviantART subscription. Second prize gets a two-character drawing and a three-month deviantART subscription. Depending on the number of entries, other prizes may be given out as well!

9- Many of you have volunteered to help judge my past contests. There will be an opportunity to help this time around, too. I’ll let you know when I need judges. Feel free to volunteer then.
